new to VB6 and need help with shell statement

I am writing code to cause things like internet explorer and command prompts to be loaded from a button in vb6. The problem is that although they actually start, I cannot give them focus, and I must either alt-tab to them or click their task button in explorer to actually bring them up on the screen. I have tried several different methods, but can't make the compiler happy. Can someone please help, it would be greatly appreciated. Steve
