Hi, I think you need a parser. depending on the specifics of the problem, I would read a line with "line input#1", t$ where t$ is the string of the whole line. Then, I would store the content of the line in an array of strings which would contain the strings between the separator (space/comma/dot etc). Once you have control on the content you can do whatever you want. The string functions in VB are very useful hope that help
